Alcina is a combined beauty parlour and hair salon, near the centre of Malmö. The goal was that the spatial configuration, the lighting effects and the equipment installed would all contribute to the image that the client wanted to create in order to the attract a fashionable and style-conscious clientele.
When entering the foyer, you get the sense of being in a very spacious room. In the reception, situated at the centre, the client is welcomed and is directed further. The foyer has a variety of technical installations. These, together with the lighting and a general sense of direction that the room conveys, contribute to a feeling of being drawn into the rooms beyond. This sensation is accentuated by the shelves on which various products are displayed, which also create a directional orientation and seem to usher you in.
The activities inside are spread out over two floors. Hairdressing is located on the upper floor and the beauty salon on the lower level. Both floors are in direct contact with the foyer. The furnishings and lighting arrangements accentuate the visual impressions you obtained at the start helps to orient you regarding the sequence of rooms as a whole.
