World Hockey Bar is a restaurant and bar in Stockholm where ice hockey transcends everything, at every level. From the moment of entering – through a huge hockey visor - the visitor is constantly bombarded every angle of ice hockey.
The reflective floor-covering looks like ice, the sloping lounge area is designed to remind you of stadium bleachers, and the rink acts as the dining area. Even in the lavatories, you don’t need to worry about missing out on hockey - the pissoirs are designed like a huge sheet of glass, with tv monitors in behind - this way you can watch the game when nature calls.
The main space is rectangular and is on a series of different levels. The conceptual space defines the sense of the hockey game, as a ritual. That means each space represents an activity related to the sport. The building’s raw concrete structure has been exposed to increase the contrast between well-finished and unfinished detail. The rawness of ice hockey is a metaphor used in the choice of different materials and in all the textures used in World Hockey Bar.
Our vision is to promote the ritual of eating and drinking, of watching and being watched. The space should be experienced and feel different from other spaces that we are accustomed to. Here is a place where people meet, eat, relax and enjoy themselves. The product is a king of recreational spaces.
